Denim and Lace

Spring is just around the corner in Perth, Western Australia which means it’s time to ditch the dark, heavy winter colours for pretty pink lace tops and distressed, light denim jeans. It always amazes me how the sheer hint of spring sunlight from behind endless winter clouds and rising temperatures, creates this yearning for brighter and lighter colour in the clothes we wear. Emerging from my winter wardrobe, pink is a colour I have been embracing lately in an attempt to add a feminine touch to my style.

And as jeans are my favourite go-to bottoms, it was an easy choice to pair this delicate lace top with my new distressed, bejewelled light denim jeans. What a contradiction: delicate with distressed. The opposites attract, yin and yang of styles which somehow go perfectly together. All of these pieces were purchased separately over the year, and miraculously were drawn together like styling-magnets once they were all in my closet. Now all I have to do is be careful not to unravel the pretty pearl beads and crystals on my new jeans.

So if you are looking for the perfect spring casual outfit with that little extra something, try mixing up your distressed denim with a little delicate lace and dazzling jewels.
